{"id":11366,"date":"2021-11-05T07:40:00","date_gmt":"2021-11-05T13:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.shieldagency.com\/blog\/?p=11366"},"modified":"2025-02-14T16:22:44","modified_gmt":"2025-02-14T22:22:44","slug":"4-simple-steps-to-fight-identity-fraud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shieldagency.com\/blog\/4-simple-steps-to-fight-identity-fraud\/","title":{"rendered":"4 Simple Steps to Fight Identity Fraud"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">New AARP-sponsored report shows the most common ruses adopted by scammers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>by Katherine Skiba,&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aarp.org\/\">AARP<\/a>, October 11, 2021<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u200bIdentity fraud is easy money for criminals, but there are four steps you can take to protect yourself and your money:\u200b\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ignore requests for an urgent form of payment, such as using a gift card or making a wire transfer.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u200bProtect your passwords and log-in information.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do not communicate with strangers about confidential or sensitive financial matters.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify everything you\u2019re told to determine if a supposed problem truly requires your attention.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The helpful tips are in a new, AARP-sponsored report by Javelin Strategy &amp;
